Township : a social entreprise in South Africa
We are Township. A unique partnership between a Social Enterprise, a Non-Profit organisation and worker-owned co-operatives.
Together we design and produce great, eco-friendly, authentically African products and bring opportunity, professionalism and economic development to women in previously disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
We have been doing that since 1997 and can now boast a proven success model that currently:

We have been doing that since 1997 and can now boast a proven success model that currently:
- contributes close to R2 Million a year to the township economy
- provides business support and on-going training to a network of DTI-registered co-operatives
- provides on-going training in order to give women the skills to establish themselves as a co-operative
- provides formal work for around 70* people (each salary has a positive effect on 6 others)
- supplies 200,000* bags annually to local retail partner Pick ‘n Pay
- supplies around 50,000* bags for business solutions globally
- designs unique township-inspired fabrics for a new range of fashion, accessories and home decoration
