Pick n Pay Partners with Township
When Pick n Pay was looking for an ecological and stylish bag to highlight their “say no to plastic bags” campaign, they chose to partner with Township Patterns. With our unique product story and 10 years experience of being stocked in Pick n Pay’s Western Cape stores, we offered the perfect solution. A national competition was launched to find three winning designs for the new “designer” bag and the first bags appeared in stores in March 2009.
The designer bag provided a huge opportunity for us to grow our network of co-operatives, creating four new ones, and in the space of a year, we were able to dramatically increase our production capacity to 30,000 units a month.
